The Garrison boot is our rendition of the classic service boot. Developing out of WWI's trench warfare, the service boot's history has been one of defense. Named after the military fortification and the guards charged with its protection, the Garrison boot conjures up imagery of security, safety, and refuge. Moreover, the name itself ultimately derives from the Germanic word meaning 'to ward off.' The Garrison boot is just that – stable, unyielding protection for your feet.

Featuring a perforated cap toe and backstay that hugs the heel counter, the Garrison boot is our first all-eyelet boot. Further drawing on its military history, we paired the Garrison boot with a lug outsole to offer more robust traction. Combining these elements produces a stylish yet utilitarian boot.

While we offer other kudu leathers, our new Crimson Kudu is from Charles F. Stead Tannery's classic kudu line, whereas the other kudu we have used is their waxed kudu. As with its waxed counterpart, Crimson Kudu will feature natural variations and scarring from its life in the African bush. Variation is expected as this article is the antithesis of a cookie-cutter article.

Garrison Boot Crimson Kudu

Made with

Goodyear-welt Construction

Renowned for its durability and ability to be resoled repeatedly, Goodyear-welt construction involves stitching a welt—a strip of leather—around the shoe's perimeter, creating a cavity. After filling the cavity with the shank and cork, the sole is attached, providing strength and water resistance. This construction method results in shoes that are not only long-lasting but also easily repairable, making them a timeless investment in quality craftsmanship.

Our Leo Last

Derived from our experience fitting and developing various orthopedic-shaped lasts designed for specific foot shapes, the Leo features a moderate arch, heel control, medial support, and forefront freedom. It embodies a traditional welted shoe shape while prioritizing all-day support and comfort.

Our mission

Providing Excellent Service

Our priority has been putting customers in shoes that properly fit them and standing by our amazing products. Many customers have found they have been wearing an incorrect size for years. This has been lost in the market today. We offer the majority of our footwear in D, E, and EEE widths to provide well-fitting footwear.

We encourage customers to ask our team for assistance to ensure the best fit.

Reviews

Very pleased with these boots

"Very impressed with the quality and feel. The fit is great and the boots feel solid. The color and slight imperfections of the hide shining though are a treat to look at. Can’t beat the quality and feel for the price in my opinion."

Laces!

"Guys, love, love, love the boots (Brass in Crimson ChromeXL) but, the laces are terrible! I personally think, with a boot of this quality and style, a leather or more substantial lace would be more appropriate (I changed them out after the first fitting). Apart from that, great job."

Kel (5/5)

Crimson kudu magic

"Stunned at the beauty of these crimson kudu boots. The beauty of the colors in the leather and the feel of the boots on my feet. Looking forward to the pleasure of breaking them in , the pleasure of pulling them on. Thank you GS for what you do , so very well."

Michael L. (5/5)

Happy!

"Impeccable finish, solid construction and color richness"

Dario H. (5/5)

Exceeded expectations!

"These are my first pair of newly purchased Grant Stone boots (purchased a used pair previously), and I’m pretty blown away by the quality and beauty of these - very much a spontaneous purchase but I’m very happy with these and I’m sure they are not my last GS boots. Keep up the great work! As an aside, I wouldn’t be opposed to more leather options in your Chelsea boots!"

Michael S. (5/5)

Best Boots

"Hi Wyatt & team, I am so impressed with both the boots. I feel they are much better than many big names which cost twice as much. I will place another order as soon as there is another Sale. Thank you for great boots and prompt communication. Regards Ash"

Ash S. (5/5)

Kudu at its best

"At first a bit sceptical regarding the color those have grown on me significantly. The Kudu leather and its texture are outstanding and the crimson colorway matches the character of this leather just perfectly. Quality and presentation are a given just as it was for any other GS boot I own. Nonetheless this time a bit struggling with slippage of the tongue of the left boot. Half size down from Brannock and the fit is perfect."

Hermann (5/5)

this is a seriously nice

"this is a seriously nice boot. feels well crafted, good stitching, no damaged/subpar leather and the Kudu is really interesting. I love the small imperfections from the life of the animal and it feels stretchy but solid, definitely an interesting feel and i'm excited to see how it ages!"

Daniel S. (5/5)

Another Winner

"At first a bit unsure about the crimson colorway I now really, really appreciate not only the kudu leather, the look and feel and its distinct texture, but also particularly the reddish brown color. Since it’s not my first pair of GS boots the immaculate quality is as expected and fit is perfect (1/2 size down from Brannack). An absolut winner for sure!"

Hermann (5/5)

Best boots I've ever had?!

"Right out of the box, I'm shocked to find not only one of the most comfortable boots I've ever worn, but one of the most comfortable pairs of SHOES I've ever worn. Incredible fit and finish, true to the photos in the listing. Looks better in person. My foot is 11", ordered the 10. 5, and it fits like a dream."
