The Garrison boot is our rendition of the classic service boot. Developing out of WWI's trench warfare, the service boot's history has been one of defense. Named after the military fortification and the guards charged with its protection, the Garrison boot conjures up imagery of security, safety, and refuge. Moreover, the name itself ultimately derives from the Germanic word meaning 'to ward off.' The Garrison boot is just that – stable, unyielding protection for your feet. 

Featuring a perforated cap toe and backstay that hugs the heel counter, the Garrison boot is our first all-eyelet boot. Further drawing on its military history, we paired the Garrison boot with a lug outsole to offer more robust traction. Combining these elements produces a stylish yet utilitarian boot.

Renowned for its durability and ability to be resoled repeatedly, Goodyear-welt construction involves stitching a welt—a strip of leather—around the shoe's perimeter, creating a cavity. After filling the cavity with the shank and cork, the sole is attached, providing strength and water resistance. This construction method results in shoes that are not only long-lasting but also easily repairable, making them a timeless investment in quality craftsmanship.

Derived from our experience fitting and developing various orthopedic-shaped lasts designed for specific foot shapes, the Leo features a moderate arch, heel control, medial support, and forefront freedom. It embodies a traditional welted shoe shape while prioritizing all-day support and comfort.

Very nice boot, some quality control improvements needed

"Great fitting, reasonably well-made, unique Kudu leather, and attractive design. Customer service was helpful in addressing an issue with quality on my first pair, however, even the replacement pair had another minor issue, but I will just try to fix it myself (a few sharp burrs left on the brass eyelets that may shred the lace a bit). Boot also requires a kiltie as the tongue is just too loose and strange choice that they used a different leather. Overall, I look forward to more offerings in this style and hope to see improvements in manufacturing quality control."

"One of the best looking boot. I was little hesitant initially with color since I normally wear darker colors . Grant Stone customer service provided some alternatives but then when I wore these boots on darker jeans . I decided to keep them. Kudu leather is soft and light as claimed. I will recommend them as good to have"

"I’ve been extremely impressed with these Grant Stone shoes. The build quality is outstanding, from the stitching to the leather selection, and they feel solid without being overly stiff. The fit is dialed in, supportive but comfortable enough for long days on my feet. You can tell real attention went into the construction and finishing details. They look sharp, age beautifully, and genuinely feel like they’re built to last. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another pair."
