When sampling this particular wedge sole, we found the treading and balance looked great, and the shoe had a nice feel. The silhouette is more casual, and the wedge matched with the gutsy leather upper creates a rugged shoe that can go anywhere.
The Badalassi Carlo Tannery's Minerva leather is one of our favorites. This boutique Italian tannery specializes in vegetable tanning. During the process, the leather is placed in a 'Bottali,' a large barrel that rotates, allowing the organic tanning substances to stay in contact with the article. A complete cycle may take 30 - 35 days. The result is an incredibly rich leather with transparency and depth.
The leather can have prominent vamp breaks and a variation of colors. Since this is a light-colored vegetable-tanned article, areas on the boot may have darker hues.

"Shoe is comfortable and looks great. Per usual the vibram sole does a lot of heavy lifting. I replaced the laces with white cotton laces which further drive these shoes into a casual vibe making them great for a shorts outfit while still being more sophisticated than a sneaker. Giving it 4 stars for having the slightest heel slip despite being the right length and requiring me to add tongue padding that the tongue might not dig into my fat feet."

"Fantastic shoes!! I do not follow reviews from YouTube. I prefer to go to the company website and get information about their products and mission. The shoes are built to last, it took me a few weeks to break them in, but that is expected with good quality shoes, now they are extremely comfortable!. The color and style are very versatile. I know Grant Stone is a relatively new brand but I hope the company creates a re-crafting program in the future. I will keep these shoes for the rest of my life. I will come back for more. Q&A
- How do you clean water stains? Got one drop of water on the toe that created a single dark spot. Tried Bick4 and vigorous brushing but the dark spot still remains.
- Good morning Chad. As a vegetable-tanned leather, water spots will naturally stain/patina the leather. Over time, the leather will darken and turn more orange with deep brown undertones. This leather will never remain spotless and is sought after for its potential to patinate quickly.
- Just received my shoes. They look and feel great! Question around shoe care, can these vegetable tanned leather shoes be conditioned/polished/waxed? Using brown dye show cream?

- Is the sizing similar to Alden's barrie last?
- Thanks for reaching out! The majority of our customers who like the fit of the Barrie last will wear the same as their Barrie sizing in our Grant Stone collection. If you are ordering/shipping inside the contiguous US and you want to exchange an item for sizing etc., we can provide a pre-paid electronic UPS return slip for the original item and you can re-buy the desired item.
