Inconsistent sizes, disappointing customer service

"I brought two pairs of this style, the Earth Waxed Commander and the Plain Toe Crimson CXL I followed the advice of going a half size down, and ordered both pairs in a 10. 5. When they arrived the Crimson CXL was noticeably larger than the earth waxed commander. When I put them side by side, the difference in size was hard to miss. I when I tried on the shoes, the crimson CXL felt like clown shoes on me compared with the earth waxed that fit just right. I reached out to customer service and they agreed that, based on pictures, the CXL was much larger than the earth waxed commander. They stated that the Crimson CXL is a newer product, and the sizing could sometimes be different from the older models. The customer service representative first recommended that I go down to a 9. 5, which based on the size of the 10. 5 seemed like a smart idea. I sent my shoes in for exchange, waited 5 days for it to arrive at the warehouse, and waited another 3 days for my new pair to arrive. When the new pair came, they were way too small. I emailed customer service and began the process of another exchange, this time asking for overnight delivery. They agreed to overnight it, but told me that since it was a Friday and a holiday weekend, their warehouse would not ship out my shoes until Tuesday. For shoes that cost this much, I was not expecting to jump through this many hopes. I paid close to $1000 for two pairs and going on four weeks, I still only have one pair. The shoes are great, but be prepared for the sizing to be off."

Avoid if International - Their sizing advice is a costly trap

"I wanted to love these shoes. I am a customer who buys 4-6 pairs of Goodyear-welted shoes a year, and I was ready to make Grant Stone a staple. instead, I'm warning others away. Because their website lacks detailed sizing information, you are forced to consult their support team. I did this numerous times to ensure the fit was right before shipping to Australia. I followed their specific advice, and the sizing was completely wrong. When I raised this, they refused to cover the return shipping. They effectively gave bad advice and then sent me the bill for it. It feels like a strategy to offload risk onto international customers. You might save money on the shoe price, but if you live outside the US, the lack of accountability from their support team makes this a gamble I won't take again. Back to established brands that actually back their service."
