This is one of our favorite colors. The leather's base color is a light oatmeal. We add a couple of layers of natural and brown shoe creams to create a transparent finish that can also hold a shine. This is a "hot stuffed" leather that ages well due to the fat liquors and oils that are infused into the leather during the tanning process.
Creasing and color variation is to be expected on these natural, aniline leathers. Each pair will develop differently as each hide is unique.

Renowned for its durability and ability to be resoled repeatedly, Goodyear-welt construction involves stitching a welt—a strip of leather—around the shoe's perimeter, creating a cavity. After filling the cavity with the shank and cork, the sole is attached, providing strength and water resistance. This construction method results in shoes that are not only long-lasting but also easily repairable, making them a timeless investment in quality craftsmanship.
Derived from our experience fitting and developing various orthopedic-shaped lasts designed for specific foot shapes, the Leo features a moderate arch, heel control, medial support, and forefront freedom. It embodies a traditional welted shoe shape while prioritizing all-day support and comfort.

"Beautiful lines and leather. The quality is outstanding, they are gorgeous shoes. The leather is not tough to break in, out of the box the leather feels supple not overly stiff. I wore them around the house for a few days before wearing them for longer hours. I had my local cobbler install vibram mini-lug sole protectors which was a great touch. "Fantastic shoes. The color is great, I liked how the dune was a little colder than very rich yellowy or orangey warm tans. It’s unique without standing out or grabbing attention. Tons of shoes come in brown CXL but I had never seen this dune in a shoe before. The construction and materials are impressive at any price point, let alone what these are sold for. The last is great, a generous fit for the forefoot without being total boats. I wear these with light wash or heavily faded jeans, pale chinos, or tan cotton trousers and they look great."

"Beautiful shoes and clearly well made. They are quite heavy, but I'm looking forward to how they will break in. The finishing is terrific. I have a pair of Alden plain toe bluchers that are nearly twice the price and the Grant Stones have clearly neater stitching, welts and sole finishing. Pleasantly surprised at this price."
"I’m not used to wearing well made leather shoes - more of a sneaker guy. So it is surprising how the Plain Toe Bluchers, which are pretty stiff out of the box and weigh more than anything I own, could come to be so comfortable. How could that be? The Leo Last agrees with me, apparently. My only concern is the leather sole, which while a source of comfort, can be slippery. A few more rubber sole options would be welcome additions to the Grant Stone Plain Toe line, in my view."
