Beautiful. . . but there's a break-in
"After loving my Brass Boots so much (as does every person who's commented on them) I decided to double my moc toes with the Derby. They are stunningly beautiful, and fit well (with a little less room than the Brass Boots have in the toe box). They are, as expected, going to take some breaking in, though, as the robustness of the leather left me with a blister on my heel with the first wear. I have no doubt that they, or my feet, will make the adjustment and I'll reach for them more and more with time."

Excellent shoes
"These shoes look fantastic and are well constructed. I went with a half size down from standard shoe size, as recommended, and this seems like the right decision for me. As noted in other reviews, there was some heel slip when first trying them on. After some wear, this has gone away. My one nitpick, which is also noted in other reviews, is that the laces are a little short. Grant Stone is nice enough to include an extra pair of laces, but these are the same length."

Beautiful Shoes
"These are my first pair of shoes from Grant Stone and I'm quite impressed. They look great and feel like quality shoes. The leather is durable and looks stunning, I think they will look even better with more wear. Out of the box, the shoes are quite stiff, but they are getting more comfortable with each wear. My only issues are similar to those already discussed in other reviews: the heel area feels a bit too short and the laces are too short. Neither of these issues are major ones but it would be nice to see them addressed in the future. Overall, I like the shoes and will be buying from Grant Stone again in the future."

Nice shoes, but the website should be clearer
"Great shoes. They look fantastic with a little patina as well. Shipped, as ever, very promptly. I would have preferred the website to have been more clear that these don't have a midsole - the photo of a bisected shoe on the page does show a midsole. This is a little misleading."

3-week Review of a Great Pair of Shoes
"1. ell , though maybe a little snug. Usually I like to wear thicker wool socks in daily life, but I had to start wearing thin dress socks to fit into the shoe. I would also add that I have very normal feet shape with a medium-high arch. Hopefully this information helps others make their own sizing judgements. 2. There was a small break in for these shoes, which I hadn’t really expected. But within a few days they fit much more comfortably than straight out of the box. Some small critiques: 1. Laces - the laces are too short. The laces provided are approximately 80cm. They may work well laced as dress shoes, but using the typical cross-lacing method I found them too short. I replaced them with 100 cm laces that work out much better. 2. A common criticism I saw for all the Derby models is that the heel is too short, which makes the feeling that the shoe will slip off the foot. I don’t think it’s too bad, and I think it will get better with wear, but I understand that feedback. All in all, I’m very satisfied with my purchase of these Waxed Leather Moc Toe Derby’s. Their quality is apparent and the product is exactly what I thought I would be buying. I’m sure that in the future I’ll be coming back to Grant Stone for ardditional pairs in their offerings."

Favorite Grant Stones
"I have a bunch of Grant Stone shoes and boots, and these might be my favorite. The waxed commander paired with the moc toe is just perfection. Easy to dress up for a business casual outfit; easy to dress down with jeans. I do find the heel counters in Grant Stone’s Leo-lasted shoes to be a bit too short — even like an extra 1/8 or 1/4 inch would help — but as they broke in, that stopped being much of an issue. I just love these shoes so much, and I’m so glad I chose these when I was waffling on which of the moc toe leathers to go with."

Beautiful Shoe
"At first I was hesitant due to being made in CHINA, but after the great reviews I pulled the trigger and bought them. I paid for "A" grade but received a "B" grade and the company made an adjustment with the purchase price and got back to me promptly. I think they are one of the most beautiful moc toe shoes out there. It took awhile to break in, longer than other reviews I've read. I have a Lillie heel slip on the left shoe but they are molding to foot perfectly so I'm sure that will go away in time. Sooner than later I'm sure they will be a perfect mold and be the everyday shoe I was looking for."
