Horween’s Pioneer Reindeer is their recreation of the famous “Russian Reindeer” leather, discovered in the 18th-century Metta Catharina shipwreck. The leather shares many characteristics with Horween’s Chromexcel: aniline-dyed, heavy pull-up, and combination-tanned. It is distinguished by a heavy embossment, creating a strictly defined, diamond-shaped hatch grain pattern.

The Cap Toe boot—combining Goodyear-welt construction with time-proven leather uppers, lining, and insoles—shares its base pattern with our Edward boot. It features a triple-stitched cap-toe, smaller hardware, and wheeled split-reverse welts. Perfect for a meeting or a night out in town.

Love the way these look!

"These would be my 19th pair of GS's in a 4yr timeframe. I have always wanted a hatch grained leather but I didn't see anything on GS's website until this boot came out. I have several pairs of Diesel's, Ottawa's, and Edward's so I know these will fit. They look pretty nice and I love the look of the leather. It's not like anything I've had before. I'm used to Shell Cordovan, Chromeexcel, and CFS Suede. My favorite leather is Shell Cordovan and this hatch grain is next for me however, because these are a cap toed boot, I find they are more on the dressy side so I haven't worn these out yet. I have tried them on just to make sure they fit and I get 9D's in all my Leo last sizing so these fit perfectly. I have not had any issues with any pairs of GS's for the most part and that's why I buy exclusively, GS but I have tried other brands using GS as a measuring stick. Can't be beat for anything under $1000. If you're worried about loose grain, get these because that will not be an issue on these. :-D. I find these to be very handsome but on the dressy side and I have a hatch grained belt to match the boots. Thanks GS!"

Great boots! Slight QA issue.

"These are wonderful boots, and the red is deep and rich in person. Mine had a minor issue where the inside of one of the eyelets had a burr and was obviously not correctly installed, and it left some marring on the tongue almost immediately when I first tried them on. Customer service advised that I could remedy by filing down the burr myself - which is fine to do, but not exactly the experience I would have preferred."
